The Future of “Stuff”

I just got this email from the Future of Webapps organisers (emphasis is mine)…

Hi there,

We just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that Kevin
Rose (digg) has been added to the ever growing list of speakers
for the Future of Web Apps summit next February (20-22).

We are really pleased to have Kevin speak at the event, he is due
to be talking about the future of crowd generated media.

If you haven’t already booked your tickets, check out our website

What the hell does crowd generated media mean anyway ? It could mean anything. It seems like Web2.0 is spawning new vague hand-wavy terms like this every day.

  1. In my day it used to be referred to as User Generated Content… and then some fancy pants came along and started talking about Crowdsourcing….. and before ya knew it, sure they were ‘Crowd Generating’ every bloody thing….

  2. Des Traynor says:

Something that fascinates about people starting user based content sites, is that they regularily assume that they forget that by definition you have nothing to begin with :)
